Wider Church

We support the wider church beyond the boundaries of our Parish with prayer and through personal links with mission partners and other Churches, as well as by giving financial support to mission agencies and other charities in the United Kingdom and overseas.

Our personal links are with:

Gautam & Sabrina Money (Church Mission Society)

Gautam & Sabrina are in Delhi, India, Gautam working at St John’s Vocational Technical Training College and Sabrina with Caruna (Child Development Centre).

Daniel & Ellelein Kirk (Church Mission Society)

Daniel and Ellelein with children David and Josh are in Chile, where Daniel is training pastors and is also part of a leadership team working with Churches in the poorer areas of Viña del Mar.

Mike & Brigit Adams:

Brigit is a daughter of a former Rector of the Parish; Mike, from Seattle, is a radio engineer and provides engineering support for a radio network across Asia. He is available to all the fields for help on radio, audio and engineering matters, and has become very involved in Rapid Response Radio Unit (3RU) (training for using radio in disaster situations) in various Asian countries. The family, including daughters Megan and Colleen, is currently based at Frome, Somerset

We also support:

Lee Abbey Household Community in Knowle West, Bristol

Network Counselling

African Pastors’ Fellowship

The Bible Society

Eurovangelism

The Julian Trust

Tear Fund

The Leprosy Mission.

We meet quarterly to pray for our mission links and also include them in our regular prayers in worship. We also aim to devote the morning service on three Sundays each year to focussing on one or more of them.

We aim to give one tenth of the PCC’s income from giving and fees to the work of the wider church. We also give away for mission or relief the cash collections at three special services at Christmas. In addition, money is given for specified purposes by members of our congregation through mission envelopes, retiring collections or other means. The total given by the PCC in 2009 was £4,033; the additional total from the Christmas cash collections, retiring collections and private giving was £1,344.
